Frequently asked questions

The ones clients ask before hiring us. If yours is not here, write and we will answer it.

Do you work as an independent third party?

Yes. We do not fabricate, supply material or carry out welding, so we have no stake in a joint being accepted or rejected. Our job is to make sure the decision is well founded and documented.

What area do you cover?

We work regularly in Camp de Tarragona and the petrochemical area, in Barcelona and the rest of Catalonia, and we travel to the rest of Spain. We take on selected projects elsewhere in Europe. Document review is carried out remotely from any location.

Can you act as the welding coordinator for my company?

Yes. EN ISO 14731 allows coordination tasks to be assigned to external personnel provided they hold the required technical knowledge and responsibilities are defined in writing. We set this out in the contract.

How long does welder qualification take?

It depends on the body and on examiner availability, but the part we control (test piece preparation, documentation and booking) is usually resolved within one or two weeks. Delays almost always come from a badly prepared test.

I have an audit in a few weeks and an incomplete file. Can you make it?

This is one of the most frequent requests we get. The first step is a quick review to establish what is genuinely missing and what can be recovered. From there we will tell you honestly whether we can make it or whether the date should be renegotiated.

Do you carry out ultrasonic testing and radiography?

We carry out visual inspection, penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing and ultrasonic testing. Industrial radiography is coordinated with accredited laboratories, and we handle the interpretation and the integration of the result into the file.

Can you review documentation without visiting the site?

Yes, and it is one of the best value services we offer. We review WPSs, PQRs, welder certificates, test reports and inspection plans remotely, and return a report setting out what is missing or invalid.

Do you work to American codes?

Yes. Alongside the European framework we work to ASME Section IX and AWS D1.1, which are common in pressure equipment and on projects with US engineering.

Do you deliver training at the client's premises?

Yes, training is delivered in-company and adapted to the actual level of the team and the work ahead of them, not to a fixed syllabus.

Tell us which standard applies and by when

One call and we will tell you whether we can help and how. No obligation and no sales pitch.
